On a man-made island in central coastal Croatia, in a wooded area full of national parks and quaint villages there's a very beautiful marina that's been named by many as the most beautiful in the whole Adriatic, if not the Mediterranean. Marina rogoznica offers not only an idyllic setting but also high end services to its guests.
Location & Approach Few marinas in the Adriatic and indeed in the whole Mediterranean can compete with Marina Frapa in terms of beauty. But it’s not just aesthetically pleasing, this marina is also located in a beautiful location on an artificial island built in the mid-90s in the Soline cove. This can be found in the central part of the Croatian coastline, between Split and Sibenik, in the town of Rogoznica, known for its sailing potential by enthusiasts.
The benefit of this position is that the marina is protected from all sides from winds, as well as being set in an almost picture-perfect location. The coordinates of the marina are 43 °31’ N, 15° 58’ E, which means it’s not far from Split airport (34km) and near the Kornati and Krka national parks, both very popular with the crowds for the magnificent scenery and wonderful sailing opportunities.
The approach to the marina can be made only from the west, the only entry point to the cove, which is why it’s so well protected from the elements. This particular route poses no serious problems to skippers since it’s wide enough and deep enough for most pleasure boats. Also, the entry is marked by a lighthouse with red lights at night on Gradina point.
Infrastructure & Ambience The Rogosnica marina is well known among those who enjoy sailing the Mediterranean waters, and not only, since it has won numerous Golden Sail and blue Flag awards throughout the years, a testament to its quality of services and devotion to the industry.
It has nine piers and 136,000 sq m spread all along the shores of the artificial island it sits on, hugging it delicately. It’s on this island that the marina facilities are located, such as the reception area, the control tower, the servicing facilities, a transit jetty 396m long (also suitable for mega yachts too), a hotel with a parking lot and some boat and customer catering facilities.
On water, there are 10 jetties with 450 berths of the highest quality standard, as well as an additional 150 berths which are located within a guarded area. But the marina also has some facilities on the mainland as well, some of which can be found exclusively at Rogoznica marina, such as an outdoor swimming pool complex, a night club, a luxury sports center, a conference hall and a monitored parking area, for incoming guests.
Being open all year round, the marina manages to attract regulars all the time, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t get crowded in summer, which is why you should make bookings early on. Among the other facilities offered to those who choose to moor at marina Rogoznica are an exchange office, high quality apartment accommodation, restaurants, a wine bar, a champagne bar, a grocery shop, chandlery, toilets and showers, as well as water and electricity on the berths.
Overall, the atmosphere in and around the marina is that of elegance and sophistication, a peaceful and luxurious retreat, on the deeply wooden hills of the Dalmatian coast and the azure waters of the Adriatic. In fact, the area is known throughout Croatia as a premier and sailing destination because of the many hidden bays, beautiful islands, secret beaches and quaint fishing hamlets dotted around the countryside.
