If you consider yourself a serious sailor, then you have to come to yacht charter Biograd at least once in your life. This place, overlooking the very beautiful and pristine Kornati archipelago can be considered Croatia's sailing center. The marina Kornati is famous for its facilites, its size and its yacht club that organizes the biggest regattas in Croatia.
Location & Approach One of the top marinas in Biograd, in center of the Adriatic coast, Kornati is quickly turning into the favored destination for many holidaymakers who choose Croatia as a sailing destination.
Just like the name says, it’s used as the main gateway to the world famous Kornati Archipelago, the marina being located right at the entrance of the national park. It’s open all year round and it’s also right in the heart of the Croatian sailing circuit, just off the coast of Biograd and close to another resort, Zadar. The exact position of Kornati marina is latitude: 43°56'30'', longitude: 15°26'32''.
The skipper can locate the marina just north of the ferry pier in Biograd, in the northern part of the town harbor. Entry can be made through the canal delimited by the two large breakwaters protecting the marina from the elements. These breakwaters can limit the effect of the winds in all directions except for the northwestern winds which produce swells in the marina. The entry point is 40m wide and 6.5m deep.
Infrastructure & Ambience The Kornati marina is not only one of the biggest of the central Adriatic but it’s also one of the most prestigious, organizer of Croatia’s biggest regatta calendar thanks to its yacht club which hosts up to 10 regattas each year. There is also a yearly bat show and many more other events that put Kornati on the map.
The marina is made up of 3 separate sections: the central part that has 350 berths (50 additional dry berths), the western part with 180 berths and the southern part with 120 berths. That adds up to 700 berths for ships up to 23m long. The berths have water and electricity connections.
The maintenance services of the marina are made up of mechanical, electrical and sail repair shops, aided by a 50t travel lift and a10t crane. Petrol stations can be found n the vicinity of the marina but there is also the option of purchasing bottled gas. To these boat services, you can add the nautical stores, the dealerships and services that have bases here.
The guest has to choose from a range of facilities, including toilets and showers, a restaurant with banquet facilities that can house up to 400 people, hotel and apartment accommodations, a supermarket, a launderette, free internet access, a wellness and spa center and an exchange office.
The atmosphere around this part of the coast is definitely sailor-friendly. Lots of boats moored in the marina and along the coast, the harbor, the ferry port, a sailing school, a yacht club and numerous agencies can be found here all mixed together, making a boat aficionado feel like home.
The region of Biograd is considered to be right in the middle of the Croatian Riviera, increased in beauty by the neighboring Kornati archipelago. Medieval architecture, lots of secluded beaches and dense vegetation made up of olive groves, vineyards but also pine forests, make up the general landscape of northern Dalamtia, perfect for a holiday.
