Marina Di Procida – Drop Anchor and Enjoy

A wide spectrum of services and beautiful surroundings – this is what makes Marina di Procida popular with demanding charter guests. Recently opened to mass tourism and full of modern facilities, this is the perfect place to start your exploration of the famous Amalfi coast in Italy.

Location & Approach
The small island of Procida is situated in the Tyrhennian Sea, in a part of the Italian west coast that is not very fragmented and as a result of that, there are few neighboring islands. However, these waters are very popular among regulars for the scenery here and the quality sailing, which why there are several marinas on the island, including Marina di Chiaiolella.

This area is so good for recreational sailors because in the heart of the Gulf of Naples there is always a breeze blowing, and the island itself has many shelters where you can sail without fear. Also, there are lots of connections to the nearby Amalfi coast and Naples.

The Procida Marina is actually located just 5 minutes from the Marina Grande in the north side of the island, the main port of entry, where the ferries and hydrofoils arrive. The distances by sea from the main destinations are as follows: 5 miles from Ischia, 17 miles from Capri, 14 miles from Naples, 19 miles from Sorrento, 48 miles from Ponza and 50 miles from San Felice Circeo. The exact position of Procida marina on the map is 40º 46' N 13º 01' E.

Infrastructure & Ambience
Being such an important marina for the whole region, you’ll find that Procida marina is very well equipped to handle even yachts as large as 30m in length. There are 230 berths in total so even during the high season there is a good chance you’ll find a good mooring place in Procida, regardless of the size of your party.
Each mooring has electricity and drinking water provided, there are toilets and showers present on site and there is even a fuel pump which runs from 8 am until 7 pm. Additional services provided by the marina to incoming groups include 24-hours assistance and monitoring calls on VHF radio channel 6, 24-hour surveillance, a weather forecast system, fire prevention equipment and even frogman service.

Of course, there are additional facilities outside the marina that should make your stay even more pleasant. Bars, restaurants, wine shops, pharmacies, banks, shops and boutiques, not to mention a cinema and a diving center will surely fill up the time in between your sailing trips. All are within walking distance from the marina.

The overall atmosphere is very tranquil thanks for the most part to the abundant vegetation which earned the island the nickname “The Swimming Garden”, mostly fragrant lemon groves or orange groves on the volcanic slopes. The town of Procida itself is a colorful but cozy settlement with old houses painted in pastel colors lining the waterfront. The fact that mass tourism hasn’t yet reached the region, only gives the quaint island more charm.

Among the most frequented destinations when in Procida, are Ischia to the west and Cape Miseno to the east. Capri island lies just a few miles away and is one of the favorite holiday spots both for sailors and locals, with its beautiful volcanic beaches. Connected to the island of Procida by a bridge, the isle of Vivara is the perfect location for a bit of exploring since it’s uninhabited and completely covered in wild vegetation, typical to this part of the Mediterranean.
