Drop anchor amidst a fantastic scenery and round out the day enjoying the view. The marina of Palau makes it possible – sweet dreams guaranteed!
Location & Approach The Palau marina is located in a very picturesque part of the island of Sardinia. It overlooks the northeastern part of the island and the La Maddalena archipelago that also happens to be the home of the Parco Nazionale La Maddalena, a lovely destination.
Close to the city center and the commercial harbor, the marina is located in a secure bay that offers a very good protection, also with the addition of two perfectly positioned breakwaters that not only play the role of preventing dangerous currents of entering the marina, but also provide support for the numerous berthing piers.
The marina can be easily spotted once you located the town of Palau. The coordinates are 41°10'93 N 09°23'30 E but if you want to find the marina, just look for the commercial harbor and then head south. That’s where the crews will find the accommodation and services they require. The northern part of the harbor is reserved for commercial traffic. Assistance with mooring can be gotten by contacting the marina on VHF channel 9.
Infrastructure & Ambience This relatively new marina was built with larger yachts in mind and that’s why it can provide mooring for boats up to 13.5m in length and that have a maximum draft of 5m. Once you have found a berth and tied your ship to the pier, you’ll notice you get the usual water (drinkable) and electricity connections (220V), a residual water collection point as well as bilge collection.
In the marina, you’ll find some more services usually needed by the sailor, such as showers and toilets, dressing rooms, a market, a laundry service, a pharmacy, a bank, security and car rental services.
The marina also has a shipyard where you can get boat repairs done with the aid of a 60t travel lift, a 20t crane and a refueling station. There is also a nautical shop where you can stock up on supplies for your boat.
The other great benefit of the marina is the relative small distance to an airport which makes arriving here by air very easy, with very short transfer times. The reason why so many regulars choose this location is because it’s a great starting point for trips in the Maddalena archipelago, but also Corsica and even Sicily.
